GB3TV is situated on Dunstable Downs at 21 meters above mean sea level, IO91ru. The PA is a ‘20 Watt Block’, throttled back to about 12W. The antennas are full wave, silver plated Alford slots protected by some plastic drain pipe! A live stream of GB3TV can be viewed at the BATC.

Transmit

1318.5 MHz, with 1000ks/s symbol rate, 7/8 FEC, DVBS MPEG-2.

Local stations use 144.550 MHz for talkback.

Receive

  • 1249 MHz, 1000 ks/s or 333 ks/s into a Ryde receiver via a 23cm Dual Alford Slot antenna.
  • 437 MHz, 1000 ks/s or 333 ks/s, into a Ryde receiver, via a G8ADM Horizontal Loop

As of mid-2024, GB3TV also has a 70cm input on 437 MHz. It is hoped that the lower input frequency will make the repeater accessible to a wider range of users. An internet stream input is also in progress, making it possible to transmit signals through the repeater without needing any RF gear.

Access is achieved with a video signal with reasonable line syncs an a video level above black. Fading to black will cause the repeater to drop out.
